Has anyone used him? What were the offspring like?

No experience with him...but I agree with Springer that he is a very nice looking bull. I am also interested in what breed :D

I'm pretty sure he's a red angus.

Positive about that? 8)

I was 99.9% sure.

I lost a stock car race once by .01 secs - cost me a few grand.

This guy is pretty good looking - but I figure we need to know his birth weight before we can make any calls. Be that as it may I would not hesitate to use him on mature cows if he was what I wanted in my herd.

Actual BW 91 Pounds. Actual WW 694 Pounds. Actual YW 1357 Pounds. Mature Weight 2237 Pounds.

EPD's:
BW: -1.7
WW: +35
YW: +72
Milk: +17
TM: +35

Sorry I should have posted that info with the picture.
I am looking at for this years breeding for a Red Angus second calver - she is a big cow.

Thanks guys for your input, I appreciate your opinions.:)

Where did the white come from in the switch?? The only white I notice on Angus is on the underline!

Isn't white on the underside, behind the navel, the only place accepted to be considered registered angus? I may be way of here, but I did notice the white on the tail also.

O.k., here's my take:

The bull himself was large at birth and has impressive Yearling weight (1357).

For his EPD's, his birth weight, at -1.7, will throw small calves, and you should have no problem with calving difficulties.
Weaning weight of +35 is acceptable, but not extremely growthy. Yearling weight of +72 is better than average. His Milk, IMO, while o.k. is high. By that I mean that most of the cows today already milk enough, adding more milk will make them require much more feed/forage when calving. But without more milk, you can't get bigger calves. The problem is that what exactly is the right amount of milk. No one has an optimum.

Overall I would think, as a Angus bull, he would be suited to a heifer bull, although with his YW he could also produce you some good replacements. I would want to look at his calving ease EPD's before making the replacement decision.

My 2 cents

I thnk there may be something with the white switch on red cattle. We have a number of 1A Red Angus with a white switch.

Why? Granted he has a nice BW epd, but no stated accuracy. The one thing we know for a fact that he has, is an actual BW of 91 pounds. What makes him a heifer bull?

i like him alot. have often wondered where they get the white tail and dappled appearance. and a lot of them have the darker face hair almost like they have a little shorthorn in the mix somewhere?

You know what is funny, I have stared at that picture and I must have seen the white on the tail but I never SAW it if you know what I mean. He has one a few championships so I am assuming that having some white hair on the tail is acceptable.

Thanks everyone for your comments. I am happy to see that no one pointed out huge glaring faults on him. :)
