Sorry guys Ive got one more question on where to buy good commercial cows. Where can we buy some good commercial cows prefferably bred, anywhere in Oklahoma or Texas? In either part of the states? To the panhandle of Oklahoma and Texas to way down to South Texas. Thanks

Thanks Eat Beef. Your heifers that you have for sell seem like a really good deal. Ill let you know if my buddy wants to go that route. Hes buying the cattle, Im locating them. Of course there are plenty of great cattle here at home. I could name 20 top farms near me right off the top of my head. The reasons for Ok and Tx are: 1 , me and him are only 22 and we've never been to Ok or Tx and coming out there to buy cattle is a great excuse to come and see some ranches and cattle and meet some new people. 2nd reason, hes wanting to raise something different other than whats popular in our area. Granite, I do believe in raising what sells and whats popular. In my area its black as in most, however my buddy is a pioneer in the cattle business and has paid his dues, With a top notch simmental operation, then going to one of the largest longhorn operations in the east all at the age of 22. Hes gotten into other agriculture enterprises and has moved away from cattle as a main source of income and merely wanting to find a breed that nobody else has in this area and having a few head to make a little money on but mostly enjoy having and looking at. As always hes called on me to help him because of all my contacts with my work.

A few ideas being thrown around, have been Brangus, King Ranch Gerts or Santa Cruz, Tigerstripes with a black bull.

I wish i could have had my dues payed by age 22, or 40 for that matter. but no way would i venture into unknown territories nowdays. you can get good brangus genetics here in the south plus they sell good... good luck

I agree, I have spoke with Joy Rezinciek of Cow Creek Ranch and Bill Felton at Coldwater Cattle CO. There catttle are a little out of his price range. Matthew Wynne has some nice stuff to however I cant get ahold of him, he must be a the FCA Convention this week, Bill Felton told me he was going. My friend has paid his dues, taking over his family farm after his dad died of cancer 3 years ago and making dang good money is defintley paying some dues in my book.
