Help me learn about my cattle. I like this one, what are her pros in cons so far? She is a february/march (didn't take time to look at her papers) gert/hereford.

They look real good! As with any of the brahman influenced, keep workin on adding heart girth and leveling the topline.

Get in line SS Genetics.

Hey now, I asked several months ago!! Though Ive got a few I might hold onto myself, plus all the RA/Gert babies that will start hitting the ground next month...

Red Angus x Gert Sounds interesting what are you planning on breeding those too for your terminal calves? Since you seem to be from my town I will offer an olive branch and we can alternate picks, and since I met Ryan first I choose that Star 5 in the first picture first. LOL

Char or black Limo for the RA X Gert and BA for the Hereford X Gert.... :2cents:

Been trying to meet up with Ryan for awhile now... Hope to see him at some sales this fall!

I was hoping to go to the one in Unionville, but it was cancelled. I know the Alabama Connection is in October. Anything else around our area?

Mountain Laurel in Calhoun, GA is really the only other one in the fall down here besides the Connection sale.....

Charles said he canceled due to consignors and himself culling real hard last year and not having the numbers to put the sale on...

Those gertXherf cows sure do make some good mama's. I would breed them to an angus bull the first time then get a big, stout, big boned, black simm bull and put on em. It'll work, trust me my dad has about 300 of em just like that. Calves will grow fast and sell higher than a giraffe's ass when you take em to town.

I wondered why the didn't have it. Their sale list from last year had a lot of char gert females on it. I was interested to see how those sold. I hope to make the Connection Sale to meet up with everyone. Are you consigning anything to that sale?

Yup, left that part out of my equation above. They would work on the RA X too. Can't stand them as momma cows, but a good Simmi bull does have his place in a terminal X!

They sold pretty good last year. I think Flying M bought most all of the Star5's.

Only Gray Oaks, Grandview, and Tinney are a part of the Connection sale, but they will invite consignors to the Crimson Classic in April. I might have a bred heifer, but haven’t decided to part with her just yet...

I breed them to Black Angus and have to settle for getting an elephant's a$$ when I take them to the sale barn.

LOL!! u4411clb. I have always wanted a black bull that would put growth on like a Char!! Most say it doesn't exist!!

It exists, but not in comparable quality. A $2500 terminal Char will cost you the equivalent of $10,000-$12,000 in Angus to get the same growth rates, and even then the Char will probably still edge it out.
