I have a little story to tell that made me realize I contributed in such a small way to something so big.
I was out for a walk out around the AB legislature buildings a couple days ago, just for something to do because it was such a gorgeous day for the beginning of October. There had been a national day of mourning a week or so ago for fallen police officers where they had ceremonies, speaches, and had wreaths and bouques (sp??) of flowers put up at the RCMP memorial in the legislature grounds to honor the fallen. Anyway, the flowers and wreaths were still there, and me and another lady that just happened to be there at the same time too, where taking pictures of the memorial (I'll post pictures later on). First thing I noticed that right at the end of the half-circle of wreaths, closest to the trees, was that one of the wreaths was knocked over by some careless person and wasn't righted back up. So, thinking of what would Dad or Jesus do, I didn't bother wait for the lady to do it, I walked over to the fallen wreath, picked it up, set the stand up right, and placed the wreath with care back on the stand, and stood back.
Next thing I knew, that lady, she'd seen what I'd done, and she said a big and grateful "Thank you." All I could do was just nod to her and stood looking at the wreath. I didn't realize who the wreath was for, until then, I noticed the name "Jim Galloway" whether it was constable or corporal I can't remember, but it was a bit of a significance to me because I remember back home when I was in highschool they had the Canadian flag at half-mast because of this fella that had passed on suddenly. I can't remember whether it was because he had gone to school there a ways back, or whether he had served in the Swan Hills/Barrhead areas, or both. But now it just seemed like a real odd coinsidence because, well, my home is from around barrhead.
Anyway, I just had to share that with everyone, 'cause it's pretty hard to keep something like that to myself. I have a huge amount of respect for those police officers and what they do, because it takes so much guts and will power to go through what they have to go through and still keep going with their job.
And I say the same for our soldiers fighting for us across the pond. :tiphat:
