obsolete tractor parts

I have a '99 CaseIH cx90i that had a clutch hydraulic line abrade and start leaking. Went to the dealer, yep here it is on the computer parts list, goes to the inventory page, I suppose, and says, nope-aint got it, can't get it, aint none. Obsolete. Really? A 15 yo tractor has parts that are obsolete. Turns out the fitting is obsolete. I went to every place I could think of. Finally a guy at a CAT shop gives me a contact of a guy that makes custom hoses. Call him and he says come on up, aint nothing I can't fix or don't have here. Place is full of fitting kits, lines, hoses, everything. Show him the hose. Nope, never seen nothing like that. But, to his credit, he did cut the old fittings off and fix me a hose. What gives with this obsolete deal on a tractor this new? Is it that this tractor is considered a utility sized tractor? Would the "ag" frame tractors be any different? What have you all run in to, or heard, concerning the different brands and the availability of parts on older tractors?

I believe the CX90i is a Euro model, so that's probably the reason you can't find it.

That's part of the reason their cheaper. I've been able to get anything I've needed for a 1965 model 3020 the next day. Nobody can beat John Deere on parts availability.
At least your up an running.

I'd say that's probably it. You reckon the Englishsters have trouble getting parts for them too? I mean, there's boats and planes going both ways every day, right?

Frustrating. I see buying another tractor in a few years. JD, used most likely, will probably be the way I go. I have looked at some NH's, but I hear they are the same as CIH, so that might not be a step in the right direction.

Unless he bought it new it would probably be classed as a grey tractor. Sometimes you can find american parts that will cross over to them but not very often. Might do a search for grey(gray) tractor parts and see what comes up. I had a Int 454 that was grey, talk about a pain in the butt! I was glad when the crankshaft broke so I could buy a new tractor

I'm a little suprised to. We have owned alot of equipment that was sold new in other country's and never had any trouble getting parts for it. This was mostly on cat, komatsu and liebherr construction stuff though.

If you have a part number do an internet search for the part. You might be surprised what you may find. You might find a parts supplier in Europe which you can buy from.

It's been close to two yrs ago now. I remember looking online quite a bit and finding hydraulic and electrical schematics for it, but don't recall ever actually having the parts number itself. I would think that CIH would have a line on them if anyone would. I joked there's probably someone overseas somewhere with a drawer full of those fittings, wondering wth he was gonna do with all of them.

This tractor was bought new by my Grandpa here locally, in 99 or 2000 most likely.
