We're home from the NY State Fair. There were 93 entries (numbers were down this year) and a few farms didn't show up with the fuel prices. We did embarrissing well. :oops: :shock:
We had 5 head in our showstring. 4 Macho calves & a 2 year old Black Perfector cow. Our Feb heifer calf (the one that is sold) was 1st out of 8 (3rd place was also a Macho calf). Our Jan 05 was Reserve Calf Champion. Our Dec 04 was Res Sr Calf Champion. Our Cow with the Feb 05 calf was Grand Champion Cow/Calf and Supreme Female. The Nov 04 bull was Res Grand Champion. We won Pair of Calves, Get of Sire (Macho of course), Produce of Dam, Breeders Herd, Best 5 head, and the NY Special (best 2 head). Also, we were Premier Breeder, Premier Exhibitor, & won herdsman award (which was a duffle bag that we used to haul all our awards home) :oops: :D .
Another heifer that we sold to a 4-H'er last year was 2nd in a class of 9 and a bull we sold last year was Res Sr Bull.

The Grand Champion Female was a Power Drive owned by Bryan Stocks (a junior from NY) and Reserve Grand Champion Female was also a Power Drive owned by Haven Woods Farm from Pa. (this was the Calf Champion that we stood Reserve to)
The Reserve Grand Champion Cow/Calf was a Limit Up owned by Haven Woods Farm of Pa.
Grand Champion Bull was a MV Red Light black bull owned by Jesse Poliskiewicz of Pa.
 
Congrats!! Sounds like you had a great show - it makes it all worth it, doesn't it? We start our fall show season next week with our county fair - we're extremely excited - soon to be extremely exhausted also!!!

Thanks. Yes, it tons of work. People that have never done it, think we're "going on another vacation". Takes days to recoup. My sister & brother in law from Rhode Island come every year (about 17 years now) and they work side by side with us - great help!!! know the whole system - don't have to be told what needs doing. Wish they were at every show :D
We leave on the 14th to go to the Eastern National at Timonioum, Md. Than we're home about 4 weeks and head to Keystone Int'l at Harrisburg, Pa. Still not sure if we'll be taking the cow to KILE, they don't let us show the calf in her own age division if shown on the cow. I have them entered both ways but still uncertain.
We'll see how the next show goes.
Our whole goal this year is to promote the Macho calves, and so far we've been extremely successful.
