The 7th coyote in the last two months fell to the .223 this evening. I shot this one just for Bez  :lol2:
Came in to a woodpecker in distress call. 60 yards shot. I am going to switch to some new bullets. The 55 gr softpoints are leaving something to be desired even with perfect lung / heart shots. I bought some of those Nosler Varmageddon bullets to load up. We'll see how they do.

Well Hoss I put 5 down yesterday as well, turtle's in my catfish pond.
It is like varmit hunting in they are wary to any sound or movement cause I keep so much pressure on them.
They hear the Mule or see any movement and they are gone. I am talking hear the Mule at over a 100 yard's away.
Biggest problem is they won't come to a varmit call.

CB there are no turtles in my pond because i put out turtle hooks because I eat them. Personally I would bait hooks with like fat meat and leave in the water they will find it and chomp down on the hooks and you got there arse then. Hoss keep double tapping those yotes. Good Job

CB, I am an avid turtle shooter come spring / summer. I have a serious snapping turtle problem. I have muscovy ducks on my 4 acre pond. They have had over 40 babies and only 1 has survived. I know hawks, owls, coyotes and bobcats are getting their share but I watched a big snapper come up and suck one down. It is recreation for me to sit on the bank and head shoot them with a .22 rifle. I have a friend that eats them and if I can get them to shore he will come and get them. I have taken some whoppers out of there.

Hoss need your input 3way, Brute chime in along with any other resident expert's.
I was out looking at scopes today looked at a Vortex mid 2 range price scope while shopping.
I have never seen a scope in that price range as clear. Are they any good?

Caustic as much as it pains me to say this. I just don't know. I have never even looked at one. I am usually a Leupold or Burris man.

I liked the Burris a lot but the Vortex was clearer to my old eye's. They were both priced the same just didn't want to buy one without some feedback.

After looking through most of scopes at Bass Pro the Zeiss Conquest 3-10x50 was the clearest for my eyes but that's not including the top $$$ scopes.I have Nikons and a Burris on my guns.
