Found this this morning. I thought to put it on here because I have read too many times on CT the concerns of the future of this country based on the behavior of "kids these days". It is good to be reminded that, at one time, you were one of the young adults that concerned your elders.

Our youth now love luxury. They have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for their elders and love chatter in the place of exercise; they no longer rise when elders enter the room; they contradict their parents, chatter before company; gobble up their food and tyrannize their teachers.

Good post angie.

Just goes to show things go in cycles and 7000 years is not a long time in the grand scheme of things. This is one reason why reading history is important.

I do not believe though that this is a cyclical thought. I believe it is a concern generation after generation. I do not feel this way, and hope that I don't turn into someone who does.

Those things were not in my family generation when I was growing up.

The kids are alright.
But, I can't wait for this tattoo fad to end. And video games--who survives that?
That Socrates guy was pretty observant. Where did you come up with him? Has he had anything published?

"By by Birdie" song * Why can't they be like we were, perfect in every way? Oh what's the matter with kids today!?*

the young generation of the time have always tried to be different from the last, it was no different in our youth, we may have respected things a bit more, but we rebelled, we had things like Woodstock, and over here the Isle of White Concert. Or do we forget these sorts of things. Before that there was the Rock and Roll explosion, the Mods and Rockers there was the Hippies, before that Teddy Boys, and so forth. It will never change and why should it, as long as they don't go around killing each other, kids will be kids. Each generation has it's fun in someway growing up.

At one time I thought video games were crazy too. I still don't play them, but think about it in another way...

The video games are a fantasy world in which people play and think. With that being said, think about how many things have been done in our world that are fantasy land too.

Things like:

The space shuttle
The internet
Computer technology
Satellite communications
Cell phone technology.

If you can dream it, it can be done. Video games and fantasy land can foster the creative mind.

No. There has been an overthrow there, apparently after the great Raw Turkey/Burnt Potatoes episode of 07, and the Swanson TV Dinner Tragedy of 06, it has been determined that I am no longer fit to host. Apparently beggars can be choosers. I am in charge of beverages now. A box of wine for me, a little bit if tea for the others.... :secret:

Well, if I bring the "good stuff" I find that I am expected to share (as if). This stuff I don't need to water down to stretch it, and certain occasions require quantity vs quality. :help:

Cheap dinner wine had gotten me through many a family gathering... I'm too to Abilene again this year. Alas, gramdma's house is dry. It's gonna be a long day.

Lammie surely you know about "BYOB". Make it a case. ;-)

If Grandma's house is dry then maybe you need a flask and something at least 80 proof. And probably some gum. That just might get you thru the day pleasantly AND make you feel like a teenager all over again.
