My deadbeat neighbors daughter is a crack whore and lives in a trailer closest to our barn. She has about 10 different visitors everyday that are no better than her, and probably worse. Hopefully she'll OD, or get her throat slit before something comes up missing around here. I almost feel sorry for her parents except their the one's that pressed charges against me for slapping their son around when I caught him stealing my stuff years ago. It really stinks when you have to worry about someone stealing your stuff or killing you daily.
Just venting a little, and reminding everyone to never take your neighbors for granted, especially the good one's.

This post sure doesn't have a "family values" tone.

But good neighbors make life easy and bad ones could rob you of a lot of peace and pleasure.

closest people to me like to cause trouble. real bored i guess. after the sheriffs all came here about 6 times i think they told them to stop calling on me. I have 13 different people that border me, i've met 3 in the 3 years i've been here. haha

All it takes is one. A lot of empty old houses/trailer homes around here as people going and coming all the time. So far I have been lucky, but may not last. Grit get a couple trail cameras and place around their entrance to your property. Dealing with POS like that it is probably better to leave them be as much as possible as sooner or latter SHTF for them and you don't want to get caught up in it, not worth it.

Grit you just seem to be a double minded 1/2 empty glass kind of guy. :)

You call her a deadbeat, yet imply she works hard putting in overtime in an old established
profession. Rather than finding the silver lining for cheer (at least she's not a meth-head)
you focus on the negatives of smoking crack.

I know you won't change your attitude, but hope this helps a little bit. :tiphat:

We are so blessed. I can't think of anyone off hand that lives within 7 miles of us that hasn't grown up with my husband. We own the house he was raised in. A couple misfits raise a little dust, that are relation to our neighbors but never makes trouble this direction, just gets the rumors flying.

Our neighbors borrow each others equipment, helps move cattle, will jump out to move a cow back in a hot fence if he knows its yours and its going to the right pasture, etc... We even have a group text if something is amiss or someone that doesn't belong around here appears to be looking around at farmsteads he/she shouldn't be.

We also watch over each others kids. Pull them out of fields they shouldn't have been in at 1AM. I haven't gotten that call, yet. But we've been sure to pull out a kid or two.

Be a shame if that trailer burnt down. Them crackheads are bad about forgetting sheit and leaving the stove on. :D

I believe that is (politically) correctly identified nowadays as part of the 'hospitality' sector..

True Grid, you shouldn’t be talking about folks in a small community. That girl is my cousin’s wife’s untee’s grandaughter’s baby mama :lol2:

I guess I am spoiled.

I have the keys to three farm houses near us and they all have a key to our place. All in event that something happens and one of us has to look after another's house for a short period of time.

Happened a while back when Mom died - we pulled out and called one of the neighbors by cell phone - they kept the house warm and the animals fed and watered for about ten days. Cost me a dinner at the local restaurant because it was the only payment they would take.

I could call any neighboring farm at any time of day or night for help. And they could call me as well.

As one of my good friends who lives about two miles away always says......

"If you call I will be showing up with a shotgun and a sledgehammer. If I cannot get in, we will discuss fixing your door in the morning."

I simply respond to that with - "If anything happens, you truly do want me on your jury!"

"True Grit Farms " - you might want to get a couple of motion sensor cameras set up outside the house and hook them to an alarm inside your home in order to guarantee your safety. With that much traffic circulating near by you might become a target. Be safe.

Best to all.

Sex worker for a neighbor, that's messed up.

I don't know that to actually be true GP, I'm just going on what her mother told us. It's about the same deal as the girl that got killed - died up on Budweiser hill, except this time it's in my neck of the woods instead of yours.

I told my old black neighbor, Mr Sylvester to just call us anytime day or night and we'll be right there. His wife is more or less bed ridden and he's really worried about this whole situation. My whole family has been in training for situations like this, but it's very easy to get complacent and let your guard down.

You need to make them an offer they can’t refuse.

I agree. That is the only REAL solution.

You have to ask yourself how much you are willing to endure, how much it's worth, and then make a careful analysis. If you don't want to pay the price to get them out of there, then they probably aren't bothering you as much as you think. Or if any price is worth them leaving, then the situation is acute.

I thought 3 times what the property is actually worth was a stupid offer and they refused. They all know I want their property, and have the cash on hand to buy it. We have time on our side, and when one dies I'll get it for what it's worth and probably less, it's only a matter of time. The only question I have, is who's going to kill who first.

Then in that case, that area would be a perfect place for burning brush or stockpiling manure, or maybe even a full blow manure lagoon. Perhaps set up a hog farming operation directly along the fence line.

Everything is ok as long as they stay off my property. I have no need to screw with them anymore, we're neighbors.
