The thermometer on the deck says 104. We had thought about going to the bronc riding in Baker this evening. The weather says upper 90's in Baker. Somehow sitting in uncovered bleachers in this weather just isn't appealing to me. I think the thing to do is sit in the house with the AC on high. I stepped outside for a closer look at the thermometer. When I turned back toward the house both dogs were standing at the door. They aren't house dogs. They only get to come in when it gets below zero or over 100. They knew it was time to come in. Weather in Baker lists the humidity at 14%.

It's hotter than Hooker in Heater right now! And hotter than Heater in Hellmouth!

From Fire Sign Theater quote from the 1960s Everything You Know is Wrong.

We have had high 90's and a couple of hundreds in the last week or so, with humidity in the 90's. Every other day or so, we get a rain in the evening, and that night we will be cooler.... high 70's/low 80's. It was brutal tonight at the rodeo. They start at 8, and it is near 10 before it is dark. I carried Smoke for 1 of my granddaughters and her friend to break-away rope on, snd she did great. I also carried this dogging horse I had bought, for somone who rode in the show, and for 2 more in the slack. I hazed for them on Smoke, and have decided I am just too old and too crippled up for this! An old frat buddy called today, and wanted me to heel for him tomorrow. but the way my hand feels tonight, I don't think I can dally. Gonna try though. It is midnight and I just got home. They went ahead and started the slack barrels when I was leaving, then they have a butt load of team ropers in the slack. Probably be 2 before they get done. And probably the same thing tomorrow night! I prefer a team roping to a rodeo,. because you have to wear a dang long sleeve shirt and a cowboy hat in rodeo. Saw something I had heard about, but never seen. They didn;t have saddle broncs, but had this new event called Ranch bucking, or something like that. They use a regular saddle with a horn, and they can hold onto that with the other hand, and they don't have to spur front to back.

I haven’t been following the weather in other places lately. Dang, some of you guys up north are getting hit hard with heat. Some going to Oshkosh are flying through smoke.

I’m in Arkansas and we’ve only had one or two days above 90f this year. It’s been the wettest year I can remember since 2009.

Amazing how the weather can be so different. Maybe our memories haven’t adapted to the changes in our lifetime. It takes a WHILE! and we ain’t there.

Yesterday while hiding in front of the AC I was watching the rodeo in Salinas CA. People in the stands or the ones not competing were wearing jackets. What is wrong with the weather? I am hiding from the heat and people in California are wearing coats.
