Been on the fast today as tomorrow I go in for the old colonscopy! Don't you all envy me too much, now.

Actually, I am not doing that bad. I have been drinking on flavored water, sprite, coffee, (no creamer, that bites), and tea.

Tonight will be the clincher, no pun intended, as I drink the gallon of what has been called "tornado butt" medicine. I have arranged my reading materials in the little room and have readied the DO NOT DISTURB sign.

I will let you know how it goes. I am told that the worst part about it is the preparation.

Wish me luck and remember that laughter is the best medicine!

Is coffee a clear liquid ??

My concern is genuine, because I get to do it in about 2 weeks.......

They told me I could have coffee or tea as long as I didn't have any dairy or non dairy in it. That is the day before the procedure. You can drink anything as long as it it isn't dairy, red or purple.

I'll let you know how it goes. I am a little rattled about it myself. I am told that there will be really good drugs that will make you not care...

If that is what I think it is, you'd best be prepared to hit the car wash a few times too. You're gonna need it.

I didn't plan on pooping on the truck...

Just drink it sitting on the pot andf maybe want to move the TV in there too. A lot of the time it seems that by the time you think you shoud be thre you should already have been there.
That's the part of the preperation that is the worst. Doc keeps bugging me that I should get one every year. I told him if he had one at the same time I'ld be willing. No takers on that deal.

Had two of them, the worst part is the night before, :o  medicine taste like crap, the procedure is nothing, They put you nite-nite via IV and then you wake up. You are alittle confused for a few hours. Must have someone there to drive you home. No pain at all. They take pictures and will show them to you. Hope every thing is OK. On my way home we stopped at Dairy-Queen and got a large vanilla milk shake. I was starving. By the way...when you get to the Dr's office make sure you know where the restroom is. ;-)

I cant relate personally but i can relate to your kids. my mom got one last year and it sucked. that gallon of crap made her horribly sick out both ends. half went down, half came back up. i hope you have a stonger stomach then she does. i also recommend sleeping in the bathroom as well as the tv idea. maybe bring an extra change or four of clothes lol. the most important rule is DONT ask your kids for anything(!!!) while busy in your fun room. good luck and i hope all turns out fine.

Lammie, I have not had the procedure yet. I have heard some horror stories like those others have posted, but I have also heard stories about how it was uncomfortable, but not too bad. Hang in there and I hope all goes well for you!

I've had 3 now it's not bad. For sure the prep is the worst. Broth, don't they let you drink all the broth you want?

And If you have a choice :D GO UNDER, FOR SURE!!!

You wake up and it's done. :D :D :D :D :D

Lammie --> as soon as everything you pass is all clear... you don't have to finish the whopping 2 gallons of liquid they give you... it tastes just horrible...

...you'll do fine, you're a trooper.

My 83 year old mother had one last summer. She doesn't get around too good any more, so I was there to escort her to the bathroom every few minutes. Not a pleasant experience for either of us, but I'm sure she felt better with me there as opposed to some stranger. She didn't complain once, God Bless her.

Good luck with yours, Lammie.

Someone told me that if you just eat light, no meat but vegetables and soup for I think it was a week prior to them getting you started on the cleanout that it isn't as bad.

My friend had that done and she said it wasn't bad.

Crygirl, you don't have a clue. Are you blond? With to days meds you don't know nothing and don't feel nothing. Worse part is the prep like everyone said and the embarrassment of it all. Course in my case all the nurses came in to watch as they wanted to see my tush.

Lammie, I hope everything came out OK. ;-)

   Are we kinfolk? That is something my family would say!

One thing for sure, it came out. No one can say Lammie is "full of it", for now anyway

She can laugh about it later on. Right now she has my sympathy.
