I bred a black cow with a red gene to an AI Hereford bull, and got a solid red heifer calf. The clean up bull is homo black.
How often do you not get a white face with a herf F1?

Does the bull have color around his eyes at all? Sometimes even the registered Herfs do and their calves seem to have less white on their faces.

It happens. I got a cow which is 75% pure hereford 25% red angus. Solid red. Bred to a pure Hereford calves mostly red faces, sometimes a calf with just a little amount of white that most of the time is difficult to see from a distance. What I am sure is that the Hereford is 100% Hereford.

Same problem here. Even used a Hereford on some Angus x Holstein recips and got some socks and dipstick tails on a couple that were solid faced. It happens alot more when you are like me and want baldy calves!

Had a RWF Hereford x Angus F1 cow. 6/8 were solid color. Mostly bred black Simmy and clubby. Last one was painted up real good when we put a painted up clubby bull on her!
