So according to the Feds the inmates don't like pork. My question is who are these people who don't like bacon?
 
I sure hope they're not getting bacon. I'm sure they probably don't enjoy the 'pork' that they're receiving. With all things DOJ, I'm sure it's the cheapest possible crap available.
 
Pork is back in the pen. Bacon and bacon grease for everyone lol.

Best I bet you are right when I worked for TDCJ I never saw bacon. Only pork I saw was pork chops but should of been called fat chops would take about 4 to get enough meat to make a sandwich, and then they had pork rolls and they made Spam taste like prime rib and some times they made stuff with ground pork.
 
Lots of conversions to Islam in the prison systems--not surprising that the fed govt would kow tow and try to ban or limit the amount of pork in The Big House.

Most articles I looked at said it has been several years since any cut of pork except pork roast has been served to inmates.
An example:
Edmond Ross, a spokesman for the prison bureau, could not explain what prompted the government's quick turnaround. "I'm not cleared to say anything and I don't have answers for you," he said late Thursday. An explanation from senior prison officials could come this week, he said.

Ross had explained last week that based on annual surveys of inmates' food preferences, pork lost its appeal in the prison system years ago. In the last two years, the menu had dropped from bacon, pork chops and sausages to just one dish: Pork roast, the entree now back on federal prison dining halls.

Yes they do TB and if the wind is blowing the right way it blows that smell up into cell blocks. It use to gag me on some nights. They told me the state sells off their prime pork and buys back low grades for the inmates to eat. I never saw the pigs but I seen the state's cattle and TDCJ has some of the finest cows and bulls in Texas.

Saw their dairy cattle too when they liquidated the dairy. Some of the best cattle in the state.

If I was ever to go back to work for the state I would want to work with the state's cattle. Inmates do all the hard work you just supervise them and tell them what to do.

When was your parole date
I have a friend in Ar his parole date is coming up in about 5 yrs but he is at a Fed Establishment
Was at a state facility for 4 yrs

Ar has a pretty impressive farm and cattle operation
The do all their own freeze drying of the vegetable the raise, have their own meat processing facilty also
 
Angus I was a guard. I haven't worked for the state in a long time. I thought about going to work with the Feds. I had several offers but they all involved moving out of Texas.

Texas had a canning plant where they canned stuff they grew. I also seen a pile of potatoes they grew sit on a loading dock and rot.

I knew you were
My buddies that work there all joke about their parole date ( retirement) they are forced to retire at 57 but both will have their time in before then
 
Oh yeah I heard some guards at TDCJ make that same joke. I didn't make parole I escaped lol. I got tired of the bs so I moved on I prefer teaching CPR, raising cattle and few other odd things I do. In Texas when I was there they didn't make you retire. They were so hard up for people any warm body would do, heck sometimes I wondered if it had to be warm. We had a lady in her late 80s she couldn't hardly work anywhere, and another guy who was mentally challenged during target practice he shot other people targets. We had people who would retire then hire back on and collect two checks.
