All my cows will be sold on saturday. I had a heart attack in june. The doc says I got to take it easier than I have been. I got very little hay in before I ended in the hospital, so the wife said it would be better to sell out and maybe next year we can buy a few head and start again. soo does this mean I can still read the posts but can't write any more. this site is more fun then pay toilets in a diariea ward. so long for now :cboy: :cboy:

I, for one, would be extremely disappointed if you didn't write...I enjoy your posts and have learned from them.

You take care of yourself, and for cripes sake, don't be a stranger. :)

why should you leave this forum, there are many of us who don't own Cattle on here, and although you don't have any at the moment doesn't mean you can't make a contribution to the questions asked as you will still possible know the answers. you don't need a car to know how to drive do you. same thing. stick around it can be therapeutic on here at times, there are some funny things mentioned which lift your spirits when low. If you need to rest fine but don't be a stranger. take care and do as your Dr tells ya and you'll be up an around and as good as new in no time. Chris.

Hopefully you'll find something intriguing that you enjoy. Find something to piddle with that causes no stress, and let us in on that secret. Eat good food. Please keep posting.

Keep those post comming. Once a rancher always a rancher. Just couse you sold em don't mean you ain't got good advice. I thought about selling all mine and selling my hay too this year. With hay going for $60 a roll I may should have sold it all and took Ms. Alabama to be (Girlfriend) to the beach this winter insteed of feeding cows in the cold rain.

Hopefully this is just for a short time. Doc. has too many rules to follow. They say with a Pacemaker, I can't weld, ride horses or Bulls. I must stay away from running engines or magnets. don't get kicked by cows or horses ( what fun is that?) I need to let the site Heal before bucking Hay. ( 3 mo. and still not healed properly) So the best thing to do is sell and start over maybe next spring. oh yea, I will miss hunting season this year too. that sucks almost as much as selling my cows. does this make me lower than a "hobby Farmer" :) :) I will still check in from time to time. That was the worst part about when I had my pump repaired. Almost as bad was quit smoking and only 3 eggs a week.

Dun, you can eat more eggs than that now. They've determined they aren't as high in cholesterol as originally thought. lol.. like everything else!

And it's a good thing. I stayed at 3 a week for almost a year, now I'm back up to my normal 3-4 a day5-7 days a week. Every year when I go in for my annual pump check the doc is surprised that my cholestorol is better then the previous years.

Lets see, I had the heart attack on Monday, surgery tuesday, released friday, that wouldbe about 4 1/2 days. And I've been making up for missing those days ever since

Why quit....work smarter not harder.
I carry around some extra plumbing and have fewer sections of bone in the back than awhile ago.
A guy just has to change the way you do the work....only feed quarter bales at a time....alot more trips to the feed bunk but then we built it right outside one of the barn doors.
Don't buck hay...use son-in-law and have it delivered right to the barn..
Sort cows with a big stick and son-in-law and the bride.
You'll be surprized at how fast you get your strength back.
Good luck to you....Dave Mc

I myself am down to one steer now. I still post here. Although I try not to give actual advice. It would be dangerous! May go the the sale barn tomorrow and see what they have in bottle calves. Heck, I haven't been calf-slimed in a couple of months and I'm starting to miss the smell! ;-)

Why do Drs. always tell people not to work? Some folks don't need to be told, and the rest of us just ignore them.

Sorry to hear of your condition. It's not the end of the world though. I agree with those who said you can back off some. But you know best. Just don't go idel, thats when your health will really go down.

Don't Give up on the Board. I may go two weeks or more and then stay up all night catching up. I enjoy your posts, look forward to more and pray that you have a speedy recovery. Once you get the smell of cow poop on your boots you are always a cattleman. (HOBBYor OTHERWISE)

I have never owned one head of cattle in my life and I'm here because I enjoy it. I suspect there are others on here just like me. Cattle or not, you don't need anyone's permission to post on here. Stick around and good luck!
