we've had storms over the past two nights which have yielded over 3 inches. The gullies are running and the gardens well watered. Our water holes were just starting to dry back a fair bit. At least we have had a bit of a break from the heat of the past three weeks. Almost every day has been 90 to 100F which is very unusual for our part of the country. Possibly another storm today. Already servere storm warnings out for the coastal strip to our east and its only about 8am (daylight saving time)(proper time 7am.

Low 30's today with occasional snowflakes here in Kentucky Bluegrass country, USA.. Our days are getting longer, though, so yours must be getting shorter..

Wish that we could have ours keep on going east. Been 10+ degrees higher than normal, what should be snow is mud. Had to grade the pens to keep the ponding under control.
Cows still won't go in the loafing sheds, rather lay under a tree in the rain...will go under when it snows...go figure.

Over the past 4 days we have had 104.5 mls (417pts 4.17 inches) Its still misty here this morning. There are flood watches for some of our coastal rivers to our east,we are up in the mountains so we are ok. Theres no problems down there only telling the inexperienced to beware.
Temperatures have settle somewhat here now which is a relief from the oppressive heat that we have had.

We are up to 5 inches for the week now and it is still misty enough to wet you. Could fine up now for a few days. Might kick the market along somewhat because there's been reasonable rain in fair few places. Selling some 8 month old Brahman cross calves next week out of first calvers,mainly first cross Brahman Black baldy mothers. (Crossing Brahman over black baldys is great for us and the same for SD black baldy)
Might get sunny later.

Well the rain continues. We have almost 8 inches for the month so far. Some places to our east down toward the coast about 100 miles away have had in excess of 16 inches in the past 24 hours. Needless to say there is some moderate flooding in those areas. Our dams are slowly filling,our gullies are running along well our yards are muddy.
Hows things in the US and Canada?

thunderstorms and tornadic activity here. had to spend all day getting cows untangled from the fences. darn wind just blew them like tumbleweeds..

We are at 31 straight days of rain today. The forecast is for Sunday and Monday to be dry. I need about a month of dry weather. But the moss growing on my back is doing great. And the webs between my toes feel fine too.

Well here in the deep south of Saskatchewan we are having a brown winter....lately the temperatures have been way above normal like, around or just below the 0 degrees celcius mark, somedays even on the plus side!! Which is crazy considering most winters around here the average temp is like -20 celcius!!! And theres no snow which is starting to look pretty bad for the moisture department in the spring and summer....right now there is just a skift of snow on the ground....no drifts, no piles, grass seen through the tiny amount of snow that seems to melt just as soon as we get it!! We need snow..but according to the fog....we should be in for some snow at the end of January and then right through to March and April. We will keep our fingers crossed and hope for some winter wonderland moisture!!!

Misty rain here again today. It can fine up for a few days now. Our yards are very muddy and the darn lawn needs mowing again. Everything is green. Shouldn't whinge because its been dry for the past few years.
Floods down on the coast from us but they aren't too bad. Heavy rain stopped before it got to major flooding. Put a bit of a hold on the show preparation.

here in NW Arkansas - it is DRY -
let's put it this way -
this is my first winter here working on the farm (left the office job to come work with Dad last spring)
I have yet to need any wet weather shoes -
usually it rains here all winter - but tonite the low is supposed to be 52 degrees - normal is about 32 - go figure
the couple of times it has rained (I do mean couple of times) I've been able to step over the small puddles with my tennis shoes
The dam reservoir is lower than it has been for over 20 years and it is only 40 years old
there is a burn ban - can't have any outside source of spark -
no grills that don't have a lid (and are monitored), no welding, no cigarettes out car windows and no trash burning -
They are really serious about the ban - heard on news about a guy in Oklahoma that was burning trash and got jail time (think it was 6 months)

Its a beaut sunny day here today. Seen two snakes today one in the fowl run a big black and in the garden a brown mongrel.
Pleased I mowed the lawn yesterday.

Snakes have been out all winter here. i dont know how many ive just about stepped on up on the banks of the pond. they are slower with the cool weather tho, and i'm not sure if thats such a good thing or not. :roll: we've only had one REAL hard freeze, and when i say a real freeze i mean one below 32 that kills the tropical plants.

Had some nice rain again had 3/4 inch this morning with probably more to come, to add to the inch and a quarter a couple of days ago. Green grass everywhere. Cattle look good,stinking buffalo flys are just starting to be a nuisance.
Weaned a few Brahman calves a couple of days ago. Always rains when we start weaning. :D

We are in the last month of summer. This should be our wettest time till mid way through april. For so many of the last few years we have missed out on the rain at this time.

here in England we have had sunny spells in the morning and heavy rain all afternoon and through the night, it is about 7C in day and 2C at night still cold but not enough rain to soak the ground, trying to put shovel in is like digging concrete. we need more rain or we will have a hose ban in spring and summer, YES we do get them here dispite what is said about our rainy weather :roll:
