I have a two month old crossbred bull calf, orphaned shortly after birth, never nursing his momma. We did get his mom's colostrum in him with tube and bottle. He was weaned from bottle and milk replacer a couple of weeks ago. He was eating creep and grass and doing good. Sunday we had a cow lose her two week old calf and I decided to see if she would take the orphaned bull calf. She did but the bull calf didn't take to the milk at all, bloating a lot. Question is,will a weaned calfs system readjust to momma's milk or was this a big mistake on my part thinking this might work?

If he's eating hay and grain, what's the point in trying to get him back to milk? You'ld be better off finding a younger calf that is still adjusted to nursing.
