Hi all!
I need to ask a newbie question. We have a small herd (8 head) of registered Longhorn cattle. Last night we had our first calf born. It appears healthy, and is eating fine. His mother was a heifer, and appears to be very attentive to her baby.
The question: How do tell the sex of a new calf? We still can not get close to the calf. Should we pen them up a day or two? What shots or meds should we be concerned with?
Appreciate any advice you can share.
