How about GPS checkrow silvopasture bushhogging? Mowed 2 times per year. Let trees seed themselves or even add some for timber. Visiting with neighbors they stated that they wish they’d left some shade. Another said 40 years ago planted trees would be less work and more returns than just cattle.

you'll never make almost anything with trees. if you have some pretty crappy ground that will not grow much grass, but will grow pine trees.. i'd say that'd be the better thing.

if you want some trees to start, i'd plant the ones you want and put some fencing around them. oaks, hickory, black locust, walnut are my favorite trees to have for cattle. you get food for the wildlife and great shade w/o to much spreading.

if you just not bushhog you will get some trees, but it will probably be ones you don't want.. ie.. cedar.. honey locust...etc...
