The bull calf is off a home raised heifer Kenlene Unique 3u sire and Tamarack w4 dam( she has some belmore jackaroo z109in her) and then I ai her to HC Mist Return.


this is an Muridale buster 2nd heifer calf cow is same breeding Tamarack /Kenlene
 
Did you get that warm spell you were supposed to get? Nice pictures again! I seem to not tire of looking at those nice golden gelbvieh calves... I find GVx Dark shorthorns look really nice... they have a dark overcoat and a golden undercoat that gives a really saturated and rich color.. I'm finding they milk like the dickens too

You bet good milking,I had a new calf today I ai a whiter roan pb heifer to Mist return hopeing for white bull calf and she calved today a red heifer calf! will try to post some pics tomorrow
 
I had a cow calf a couple hours ago, 1/2 SH, 1/4 Saler, 1/4 hereford, bred Gelbvieh, never threw an ounce of white in a calf... She had a bull calf with white socks on his hind feet. The ones with some Saler influence seem to have longer lasting udders, well suspended and don't seem to ever sag.. Little bags that make lots of milk, and teats a calf can find.
I'm finding on my better cows it takes the calves about 2-3 weeks to start to keep up with the milk. I like the Shorthorns for the hips, and they can handle big calves without any problems, and the Gelbvieh really puts the meat on the back, which the SH often really lack. I got a Limo bull for next year's calves... I'll see how I like him.. I hope his calves are moderate framed, as opposed to my frame 9 shorthorns.
