New Calf

My new calf is full of gun powder or something, he was smelling of my hands yesterday as I was working on panels to seperate a bull from him and his mama. The he started kicking up his legs and running circles around the hay ring and through the bulls legs and then jumped into the water bucket. I wish I had it on film, YOUTH is something to see in a calf. I think he may slow down after I band him this weekend.

I may be wrong but when I see the calves out in the field running, bucking, and just plain having fun that is the best sign I have of a healthy calf and not one that may be sick.

Nothing more entertaining that watching a calf play and expore their world. I could watch for hours.

There is nothing like the simple pleasure of a new calf - tail up head down barreling through the field.

Pretty nice sight also when all of the horses get spunky and decide to take laps around the pasture. Arabians can definitely be showy when they want.

Its so entertaining to watch the critters play! That is what makes doin all the work worth while!

We call them the little scorpions - so often they curl their tails over their backs like little scorpions and tear around! We always laugh when mom is still really concerned about the baby and goes running after, bag flopping and the calf just runs harder!
