New calf limo herf cross

Congrats nice pics. Did you weigh that heifer or tape her. Maybe the pic but, she doesn't look that big to me. Is that red calf out of the Hereford bull? B&G

Thanks. I guessed last night but got on the scale with her this morning she weighs 92lbs. B&G, that calf is actually out of my limousin bull and an old tigerstripe cow. Fast growing little bugger and so far all the calves out of my limo bull have been extremely athletic.

Redbullbreeder, the bull is registered here is his number NPM2014187. Don't know much else about him. I had purchased him pretty cheap because my uncle bought his brother. My intentions for this bull was to have him in a empty lot get him fat and take to the sale barn. The angus I had was getting very territorial and chased me one day. so I sold the angus and put him to work.
He was a hard keeper. he lost all condition when he was working. He only bred 7 of my cows, and all months apart.

That's him the day I got rid of him.

I wasnt there during the raising, so correct me if Im wrong. You bought the bull, put him in a lot to fatten up, but had to turn him out because the Angus bull went a bit nutts. I would submit that most any bull would have fallen apart under those conditions. Bulls used for breeding need to be brought along on a different plane of development, versus one that your just trying to get fat. Sadly we see this happen in a lotta bulls bought from some high dollar breeders at a sale that have pushed these animal to the max. Pretty to look at, but melt like butter.

Top of his pedigree is not one I care for to much. Still should have done better for you.

RBB, whats in his sire pedigree that u didnt like. Rulon and Touchdown have been good black bulls...Lol of course may be because they aint fullblood you dont like em. I know I dont like the Harvest Shadow in the dams bloodlines. That bull was a real bust, and a prime example of someone playing fast and loose with epd's numbers

RBB, the Paul Payne breeder from Paris was the breeder of my Colorado 150 bull, he had a lot of good old school bloodlines. Not sure if he is still in business, but you might look him up for some of your old school searches

Nothing in the bottom that I don't like Houston. The old Touchdown bull was a good one. I don't like Rulon and I didn't like the Asphalt bull. Auto Harvest Shadow was for sure a joke a very expensive joke on those that bought into him. There is a full brother to Asphalt that I can't think of the name of right now that's a way better breeding bull. Rulon was not very fertile.

That's correct. I guess I didn't expect him to go down so fast and figured it wouldn't take him so long to get back up. His current owners love him, they are expecting calves by dec. I have invited them to see his calves on my place. I think I always saw him skinny because he didn't have much gut. He also always had them big gaps in front of his hips.
