Sat here for 10 minutes trying to fault him. Can't seem to get it done.

Nice bull Isom. He's the kind that could really make you.............now all you need is 10 or 15 nice registered cows to breed him to!

Yes, that's him. As far as teaching a class, I'm sure I could attend one by a lot of members on here and learn a lot. I buy a bull or two every year so I have a system. I evaluate every bulls EPDs through angus.org as EPDs are constantly changing so I can get the latest numbers. I don't do the search thing because it leaves some numbers out. This takes a few hours. Then I rank all the bulls that have the traits for my program. Then I get to the sale 2-3 hours early and evaluate each bull that made the list. Then I start culling via the eye test. When I get done I'm usually down to 4-5 bulls out of 100-200 that will work. Then I rank 4-5 bulls in order I would like to have them combining phenotype and EPDs. Then I go thought the sale order and find where they are selling. If I'm lucky they will be selling close to the order I have them ranked, if my #1 choice is selling last I know I'm probably screwed on that bull as my #1 will usually sell for $10,000+. Lastly I put a price figure by each bull and what I'm willing to pay for that bull. I try to work the bidding where my final bid will be exactly what my price for that bull is and hope I get him. This bull is the first time I have actually brought home my #1 choice.

Sounds a lot like my system. I ,like you can very rarely afford the ones i pick first! You sure hit the jackpot on this one!
 
Isomade, I saw a previous post you had complimenting the KiamichiLink Ranch for standing behind their product. Good to see you patronized them by going back to them for another bull. Good business ethics IMO. I was looking at War Party picture in Select Sires. You can see that phenotype reflected in your bull. Very pretty animal. I think I would enjoy looking at him every day even if I didn't make a penny.

I just read an article awhile back that suggested that everyone use that exact same method. They even had it pencilled out to where it was a good time investment even if you wound up going to multiple sales to buy one good bull. I'll see if I can find an internet link to it.
