New baby with allergies?

I have a two day old calf out of a heifer.Little bull 63 lbs the heifer had no problem.Everything seems fine with him he got his "Collimune" right after he was born and mom is very attentive.However this afternoon I noticed that both his eyelids are puffy with swelling.His eyes are watering a bit but nothing too abnormal.I have never seen this on a new calf could it be an allergy maybe even to the collimune?I think I will try a dose of long acting penicillin in case it is an infection or maybe predef an anti-inflammatory.I haven't decided.He is not in pain but the one eye does seem to bother him a bit.Has anyone seen this before?And no it is not pink eye.We do not have flies or pollen yet ,there is still some snow on the ground.

Possibly blocked tear ducts. A vet can fix them by running a tiny tube up through the nasal passage and clearing the ducts. There might be some drops that might help clear the blockage.

Hi everyone thanks for the responses.I did give him pen and have been putting special formula in it twice a day.The swelling as gone completely in the eight eye and most in the left.However the eyeball in the left looks like it has a contact lens on it and it is all cloudy like the look a cow gets with pink eye but we all know its not pink eye.I don't know if he maybe got kicked by accident if he went up to another new mom or what.His dam keeps him hidden and out of the way all the time so he is usually separated from evryone else until I move him away from the fence.Why is it that heifers like to put their new babies on a fence line is it so we have to crawl under to get the calf from the wrong side. :roll:
I was hoping I would here from my vet today about a pm he did and I could ask; I hate bugging them during such a busy time for something like this.He is eating well and can kick pretty good for a newbie.So I will give him pen tomorrow and keep treating with Special Formula hopefully it will start to heal and he will not lose the eye sight.
