Yes, they ARE beautiful, my favorite being the one lying down with the ringed eyes, red ears, and red around the nose. They sure have LONG legs. What did they weigh? Like your pen, by the way.

They will probably weigh about 65 to 70 lbs at birth.
I agree that Oreo's (black and white) is a more flashy calf. But I'm still proud of Ladies(red and white, flat horns) cause she's a girl and alive.

Doesn't matter what weight,or breed,ALIVE and HEALTHY is what matters.

That did it! My daughters said we MUST raise Longhorns! When daughters want, daddy must get! ;-)

Spoken like a true daddy! Good for you! (and aren't you glad they agree with what you'd been thinking about?)

My girls claim they want it for me. Assuming the other wants something has gotten us in trouble in the past. Neither girls or myself like rollercoasters. They thought I wanted to ride on the one at Disneyland. I thought they wanted. None of us wanted! All three of us were sick afterwards. Of course, this has worked for me. They saved their cash to buy me a rifle assuming that I wanted another. They assumed correctly!

I have this therioy. If I spoil my girls just a little bit, when they grown up, they'll look for a boyfriend and husband who will spoil them a little too, and avoid guys who would abuse or hurt them.

Good thinking! I never thought of it that way, but I've always said my daddy was my best boyfriend. It took me a few tries, but I found someone that had my daddy's integrity...and his penchant for spoiling just a little bit. Your daughters are lucky they have you. I know I sure was lucky I had mine...

I like Pink's calf a lot. For some reason I like the solid spotted calves better than the splotchy ones. Maybe because I like Tobiano paint horses more than overos...

Is that your calving setup? Small grassy areas for mom to calve and then turned out? I like it!

Actually the lot where I keep them prior to calving and for a short while after is about 7 acres. You just can't see it all in these pics. (not that I would want you to. I haven't had time to clean it up lately.) You can see one of the smaller pens in one of the pics in the background with the bull in it. I am slowly but surely fixin things as we go along. ;-)
