we have a couple of 15 month old heifers that are by themselves in a 15 acre trap. last week one of them was balling consistently for about 24 hours and moving back and forth from the barn to the trap.

now the second one is doing the same thing. i think maybe they are coming in heat and acting strange.

has anyone seen behavior like this from heifers coming into heat?

Yes. The worst ones will go off for 24-48 hours every time, pace every fenceline and won't shut up until they get laid - kinda like some females at college or cougars at the bar. Last time I had a bad one, I ran and grabbed a bull from the pen and started the breeding season early.
