The wife and I do the Netflix thing and our queue is getting low. Sure would appreciate some suggestions, as I haven't had much luck lately. I'll order something that sounds good, but half the time it turns out to be crap. Doesn't really matter what it's about, when it was made, or whether it's well known or not. We just enjoy good movies.

A Woman of Independant Means ---- starring Sally Field. Came out in the early 90's maybe. I don't know if NetFlix would have it. It was a special on TV that ran for (I think) 2 or 3 nights. It was a great story that followed the woman't life over the course of her lifetime, we really liked it.

Now Voyager ---Starring Bette Davis, came out in 1939 (I think) Pretty decent flick, I have the video.

Finnegin Begin Again ---- Starring Mary Tyler Moore and Sam Waterston. Came out back in the 80's I think. (have that video as well)

The Black Stallion --- Can't beat the cinematography on that one.

Pharr Lap ----Good story about an Australian racehorse.

Murphy's Romance ---Starring Sally Field and James Garner. Came out in the early 80's?

I know of many good films I've seen, just can't remember the titles at this time. Some of the others I'm sure you know of, and have probably seen.

Wish I could help Van, but all I can tell you are movies not to rent. I'm a netflix subscriber too. I rate all the movies I see so low that netflix recommends nothing for me to watch.

Van don't know what your favorite movie types are but we've been watching "The Tudors". It's a series that's been on Showtime the past 3 years and 4th season about to begin. History of the Tudor line in English history basically beginning with Henry VIII....sometimes a little slow but we've thoroughly enjoyed it. Another good one is "A Man For All Seasons".

We liked all the Boerne Identity movies. Some older ones I really like and can watch again would be Places in the Heart with Sally Fields and Danny Glover. Also like Murphy's Romance, it is good every once in a while. My Cousin Vinnie, Secondhand Lions, Thunderheart, and my husband can watch the John Wayne western movies over and over. Rio Bravo, McClintock, Big Jake, etc.

We also belong to netflix, but I pick most of the movies. It would sure help if you could list a few movies you like. Also what things in movies you don't like, such as nudity or violence. Which in my case does not bother me, I guess it's part of my era, I really don't notice it as much as my mother does. So what I'm saying is I like "some" of the more recent movies made, but won't recommend any until I know more about the type you like.......from Paris with love (action packed, violent but I liked it. About a government hit man).

Good luck,
Alan

Evil Roy Slade, The Outlaw, Dr. Zhivago, Charade

Wow! You and me may be the only ones who know " Evil Roy Slade " is a great movie, a real classic.

Nice choice,
Alan

I second Murphy's Romance.

If you have not seen "The Hurt Locker" it is definitely worth seeing and to lighten things up "The Hangover" is absolutely hilarious .

Don't guess I'll ever get tired of Lonesome Dove nor The Streets of Laredo. Also have watched ol' Quigley Down Under several times. All the moview about Australia seem to be good. Lots of dust, long roads and plenty of space.

Good ones. Throw in Gone With the Wind and Giant and you have a full set.

James Dean in Giant,---well it just don't get no better.
(I don't know anything about this Netflex business. Don't know if these qualify or not.)

Jeremiah Johnson, shawshank redemption, both are really good. First one is a Robert Redford movie, the second one is a Morgan Freeman movie.
