need sore throat remedy

Does anyone know a good sore throat remedy?? I used to do honey and vinegar with one more ingredient, but for the life of me I cannot remember the 3rd ingredient. Boone

Grandma's sore throat fix.

4 oz. bourbon
4 oz. honey
1 oz. lemon

Mix in a large mug and keep warm on the kitchen stove. Over the pilot light is perfect.

For a 7 yo. give 1 tsp PRN.Z

I sure remember the honey and lemon juice but I swear I remember something like a little turpintine. Maybe the Turp. was used for something else. Maybe it was a drop of Turp on a sugar cube.

I also remember soaking your foot in coal oil to help kill infection from stepping on a nail.

What about Sulphur and used engine oil mixed together and spread on an old dog's mange. This works, by the way!

Does anyone out there remember screw worms? This used to be a real problem with cattle and especially when cutting calves. Always had to apply screw worm dope to what was left of their nut sack and check them every couple of days to make sure everything was OK.

Honey and Pine Tar was an evil remedy that I was given. Tasted as good as it sounds. Thick as axle grease in January. I really don't remember if it worked.

Yeah, it worked - least that's what you'd tell your ma. :lol: Tupentine used to be a wonder drug. Used for snake bites and sore throats. Still sell it on medicine shelf here.

Go get some glycerine and iodine from the local RX. Put a small bit (teaspoon or less) on a saucer, then drop a few drops of iodine in it. Stir it with a Q-tip until you have a light amber mix. Take the Q-tip and swab the back of the throat (easier if someone else does it). Should kill it overnight. :)

P.S. iodine is poisoness, so use just enough to turn the Glycerin a light amber. I have used it all my life. ;-)

Great, I won't have a sore throat anymore but will need a cure for vomiting. :lol:
