need advice please

Was this calf in a barn a lot of the time? I am more and more of the mind that cattle stay healthier outdoors 100% of the time, as long as they have some shelter from wind. Germs etc love dark damp corners and build up in a barn. Good luck. Jim

Once my calves have sucked, they may not even get shelter from the wind.

Nope, he was outside from day three. Gave him and mama two days in the calving pen to get acquainted -
she was a first calver- and it's just got access to shelter, not closed up and it's grassy, not dirt.After that out
they went to pasture. I'm also of the mind that they belong outside where God put 'em to start with. We
have several stands of trees and that's their shelter. My hubby feels sorry for them when it's snowing and
-10 wind chill, but hey they've got hair. :) I do know of some folks that put them up in the barn, etc. and
I can't see that it's good for them.
