I bought a calf via an online auction and was told her had an abscess on her knee. The pictures weren’t the best quality and it did not appear this large at all. Upon getting her home tonight, a family member says this looks like navel/joint Ill. She’s just shy of 7 weeks and I didn’t notice any discharge coming from her navel. She’s eating/drinking fine. There is heat in the knee.

Will edit with photos shortly.

You'll have to get it drained by a vet. The longer you wait, the more permanently cripple it will be. They almost never recover completely, but, it does need vet attention..

Naval/joint ill may not have an infection in the naval. The bug enters the bloodstream THROUGH the naval and can settle in joints. It can be extremely difficult to "cure", but can be done. You really should get a vet to look at it. Could just be an injury. Is the knee joint swollen? or does there seem to be a puncture that is infected?

Vet is on her way out. I just brought the calf home late last night so there was to get a vet out before now.

We get one of these a year. VERY difficult to cure when it gets in the joint. Vet says the joints don't have good circulation so hard to get medicine in there. My vet has never wanted to drain one. Last year we cured the calf following the vet's advice. Short Acting and Flunazine every day for a week, wasn't cleared up completely then another week of the same. Sooner you catch it the better. We've even had one where it moved from joint to joint. Good luck.

The vet still hasn't made it out yet but here are a few pictures from this morning.
