The cold weather is returning next week.

Environment Canada meteorologist Jeff Coulson said the same kind of system will head south, from the Arctic, next week.

"We are seeing a pipeline setting up of very, very cold Arctic air, starting in the far north of the country," he said.

"[It will be] working its way down, almost due north to south ... through northern Ontario, and then deep down into the U.S. as well."

Coulson said a number of Canadian and U.S. weather forecast models all call for colder-than-seasonal temperatures in their seven- and 14-day outlooks.

The coming deep freeze looks to be a long-lasting one.

I will take cold or snow over all this rain ... Send it on I AINT SKEERED

I am. Lost a newborn calf in the last Arctic front. Of course the fact he was born in the rain and the temp dropped 40 degrees overnight played into that as well.

Aaron, I have been watching it setting up for a few days. I am wondering if this pattern is going to last. I don't mind the cold but single digits cause some problems this far south. Makes doing things difficult.

Thanks for the heads up Aaron. Been watching that on the news and certainly not looking foward to it.

You sure know how to cheer a person up Aaron.

Tomorrow will be in the thirties. I shall enjoy every last second until the front comes through in the afternoon and sends us back to Arctic adventures.

This weather does make WinterJack taste good, tho.

The weather service said it had been 18 years since we had gotten that cold. I must have been a tough son of a gun 18 years ago. I don't remember it hurting that bad. Plus it's expensive: extra hay, electricity, things freezing and busting. It's a hot mess.

More like cold mess. :cboy:

38° just south of Orlando 8:30 pm. Darn cold for us. My onions and carrots are covered. Cows are already froze in little packages. I feel for all of you with this next wave of cold and gloom.

Looks like this one won't move as far south in the US midsection as the last one, Oklahoma and Texas won't see much change from past Januarys with the front sliding off to our East and here's a good explanation and a contrary view of the popular "polar vortex" buzzphrase:

Darlin' speaking softly, you went postal a long time ago. "Snowbound"? Y'all have festivals on frozen lakes. Put on the "underArmour" and get out there. :D
