I run about all black angus cow and have been using a black limousin bull but I have been thinking out going to a simmental or angus simmental cross black bull. That is what the guy next door did and his calves are very immpressive and I just wanted some of your guys opinion on this.

thanks

If you have been keeping replacements from the Limo bull;
You will get more Heterosis with the straight Sim bull. You might also consider a straight Gelbvieh bull for a 3waycross.

If you are going to straight Angus then either a Sim/Angus or a Blk Balancer will give you the best heterosis.

I don't think you can go wrong going with the Black Simmental. You'll want to keep all the females for replacements and should get a boost in weaning weights. I'd try and get with with at least 1/4 Fleckvieh (German/Austrian Simmental) blood if you can. The Beef Fleckvieh are a lot easier doing and have a lot more natural thickness.
