My girls did alright, Zima and Audi's (first timers) calves were both in the 600 lb group and they were meat wagons. Poppy (4 year old) and Kims (first timer) were in the 563 lb group.. the "gray" steer was the highland cross so I'm not surprised he didn't bring much, he was also born in late april.. Considering the condition of his momma when she got back here she did alright, and I'm pretty sure she bred back fine.. the two 490 lb steers were not from my cows.
I'm glad the calves are weaned earlier this year, considering they're march-april calves and we're weaning early, they weighed alright, but the mommas were getting a bit thin, now they have some really nice pasture to fatten up for the winter on and next year they're going to raise even bigger calves... And Xena will have a calf that I'm excited to see... I haven't had a heifer in 3 years from any of my cows so maybe I'll get some nice ones
