My Black Beefmaster Bull

This bull is 2 1/2 years old. I won't see his calves until next month, but he's got every one bred. He's very young, but he takes his job seriously. He is easy to work and is gentle with the young calves.



He looks like a beefmaster. What do you think of him?

That said, you asked you get.

Weak in heart, topline, girth, and hind. I don't raise beefmasters, but if I did, I wouldn't use him.

I know, but somedays I'm bulletproof. I do AI, and have other bulls. I'm just curious what people think.

he just looks kind of average to me fourstates. nothing to write home about. he has a sheath like my current bull does which is not ideal but the girls dont seem to mind. i would like to see more muscling in the hindquarters and more length for starters. i am shopping for a new beefmaster bull for the spring and i'm looking for the biggest butt i can find and a lot of depth and length. how many cows did that bull breed?

16 cows, 4 heifers. I never feed, but we have had good grass.

i'm sure you will get some negative comments on this bull but i bet his calves will be pretty good. especially if you have long muscular cows. he could be better or a lot worse. i think you'll be alright. only one way to find out.

the bull needs tobe on heavy feed for about 90 days.an see if he would look any better.in my eyes he is very lank an gaunt.needs tobe filled out some.

That sheath is gona hang up in the catclaws. Go ahead and put him on some nice long cows, and see what hapens.

If he is working for your program right now then he is alright. Average by most standards and the other things people have pointed out.

If he is working for your program right now then he is alright. Average by most standards and the other things people have pointed out.

id just like to see him with a little more weight on him.honestly he looks like he has been worked pretty hard.an he needs some feed.

I was going to stay out of this one. First place, If I had a bull that looked like that after breeding season. He would be on a boat ride to China.
My bull was 18 months old when I bought him. He weighed between 1500-1600 lbs. I put in a pasture with 47 cows.Not all of which were cycling. I left him there for 3 months and then he went to another pasture with 36 cows. He would breed anything that moved. That bull never lost an ounce. No feed ,just grass ,minerals,and hay. He weighs 2400 lbs. now
A bull should not drop all of his weight during breeding season. Yes,I have seen some drawn up. That ,bull didn't have it to start with. I'm sure he came out of a good genetic sire and damn. But he got the lower end of the stick.

if one is good i dont care to feed him a little now and again to keep him in condition they can't make it on nothing and with this drought thats where weve been lately. but a dink is a dink no matter how much feed you put in em.. just a fatter dink
