That is some horse! Love the 'racing stripes' on her hind legs. Is that a hackamore he rides with?

Lovely cattle, but that Mustang takes the cake. There's a family in our area who has a small group of MG's and they always do very well at the local fair. Think they have about 10 now, all AI calves. Beautiful cows those MGs.
 
He does use a hackmore....she's a line-back dun with
what they call primitive "zebra" stripes on her legs.
The stripes don't show up much because of the
sun/shade angle.

I've read that the caveman drawings in the caves in
europe showed the little horses with the same type
of leg stripes.

She's the boss mare of the pasture w/o doubt.
 
Nice looking cattle. Nice looking area also. That is about the nicest Mustang I have seen. Have been looking at the MG's lately, look to have plenty of muscle.

I'm curious as to where you hubby's horse came from. In south east Oregon there is a herd of wild horses that throw the leg markings, they are called Kiger Mustangs, I was under the impression they were unique to that area, but they are regularly adopted out.

She is registered with the Southwest Spanish Mustang
Assoc; official name of Philly Hawk. Sire: Choctaw Travler
and dam Lilly Hawk. The sire was a sorrel/Wh Pinto and the
dam was a line back dun w/stripes...so she clearly took
after her mom. She has two or 3 tiny white spots on her
each about the size of your little fingernail...that's all she
got from pops I guess! 4 generations back in her petigree
was Chief Kiamichi, Mexican Joe, Mr. Doc Taylor, Mexicali Rose,
etc....then the 3d generation back clearly was the
eastern oklahoma group with common name of "Choctaw"
in there somewhere---in the Kiamichi mountain area.

She was born in Texas, and we bought her from a couple
in Tulsa. They had just weaned her foal, which was sired
by an arabian. I didn't see the foal but wished we had.
Hubby doesn't want to breed her. She's quick as a cat
even though she is now 15 yrs old. Tremendous stamina.

Hi 'bama! Yes, he was there at Teddy Gentry's invitation
at the first GrazeFest...I think Mike met him also. He had
a great time meeting all the people that attended.
Do you still work across the street from the fairground???

Yes I do. There was another man with him too. Two great folkes. Please tell em I said hello.
I think the fair will start moving in next week too. Are you sending some cattle?
 
Jeanne have you ever been to Australia? You would love driving around our country especially down south. you would see lots of Murray Greys. I have a few friends that love their Greys. I still don't think that there is any area that breeds them better than the Upper Murray Valley where they originated. The Sutherlands and the Gadds do a very good job. Nice big cows with plenty of frame and milk.
Keep up the good work with your promotion of the breed and good luck with auction.

Msscamp: So far we have Wisconsin, Arkansas, New York,
Missouri, Texas, California, Kansas, South Dakota, Oklahoma,
and Ohio farms/ranches involved in the auction. I sure
would like to add Wyoming----does your dad have anything
at all he would like to sell? Listings close on Sunday the
8th & sale starts on the 9th.
 
Jeanne, I have barely seen Dad all summer. He's been in the hayfield (be it ours or someone elses), since the first part of June - literally. We have to work out a plan on hauling some calves tomorrow morning, so I'll ask him then. Count on an answer tomorrow evening.
