Collection of Beef Checkoff to Change in MT

TheMontana Beef Council (Council) and theMontana Department of Livestock (MDOL) have jointly decided to change how beef checkoff dollars are collected in the state. Starting on January 1, local and state brand inspectors will no longer be collecting the money. Instead, they will provide the change of ownership paperwork to the producer. It will then be that producer’s responsibility by law to remit payment to the Council. Local auction markets will collect/remit payment on behalf of the producer.

Northern Ag Network spoke with both the Council and MDOL after the vote.

This doesn't surprise me with the number of folks now complaining about the Beef Checkoff-- and paying to fund the revalations they have been used to pay for NCBA's politics, partys, and Hawaiian trips- while their checkoff tax dollars are still not being used to fund what they asked for - Promoting USA Beef- Born, Raised, and Slaughtered... :(
