Most ships nowadays, including our own, are extremely vulnerable to missile attack.
The ships are fast and able to put out lots of over the horizon firepower but you can sink them from a rowboat if you can get close enough. Very little armor on Navy ships nowadays.
I wonder if Moskva had a Russian equivalent of our Phalanx or SeaRAM?

I believe that the USS COLE was anchored in Yemen was taken out by a bomb in a small boat by suicide bombers.
