More questions on installing mats in stock trailer

Getting ready to install the 3/4 inch 4x6 mats in my stock trailer. One side of the mats has a groove cut in them about every inch or so running the 6 foot direction. The grooves are about a quarter inch wide and about 3/16 inch deep. The other side has a little raised oval shaped dimples on it kind of in a diamond plate pattern. Which side should I put up? Looks like the grooved side would provide more traction, but the grooves would be running crossways of the trailer and seems to me would make it harder to wash out the trailer. Also, my trailer floor is 5' - 11 inches wide. Should I trim the mats to fit that size or just force them in and leave a slight curve on the sides. Someone told me that would make kind of like a curb on each side to make it easier washing the trailer out? Thanks! gwece

I put the grooved side down with the channels running front to back. I think that any liquids have a chance to run out of the trailer that way.

Dimpled side down will get slick and slide in freezing weather

You'll get 50/50 opinions. I put grooves down. I also put a lag screw thru a washer to hold the may in place. I'd cover the wood in burnt motor oil first.

Agree with slick,"groove side down running front to back for drainage." I wouldn't curve up the wall, you will just get a mess of crap behind your mat to clean out. Your mats do not need to cover the whole floor side to side to provide traction. I just run mine down the middle. Much easier to roll off and clean the floor that way. Just personal preference.

Either way but you need to pull them out to wash it. Much easier to wash the mats with them hanging over the fence too.

Seen one that was washed again and again without removing them, what a mess. Fly and parasite haven.
