Are these photos from around Lancaster CA. I have been there when the onions were harvested. They are pulled and put in sacks to keep the sun from turning them green. At that time there were rows of sacks of onions nearly as far as the eye could see. They were picking them up with a machine that was John Deere green. A conveyer on each side with a mexican picking the sacks up and putting on the conveyer which moved them higher on the machine, where another mexican was unsacking them and dumping in a hopper. The onions were then loaded on trucks and carried to a packing shed. The desert in that area is very interesting. You could see places where the land was runied by the salt in the irrgation water.
