Mixing Rabon with Minerals

None of my local dealers carry loose mineral with Rabon in it, but they do carry straight Rabon for the dairy guys to put in their TMR. I was thinking or buying the straight Rabon and mixing it into my mineral. The problem is I dont know what proportions to use. The mineral bag just says cattle should consume 3-5 oz per day. It doesnt say what size animal should consume this amount. If I mix to much Rabon into the mineral will it be harmful to the steers? Thanks

You know, that is actually a very good question - but I believe it should be put to the company - not the mob.

If you look on the tag the internet address will be there - why not send them an email - and please be kind enough to show us all the response. I bet more than a few of us would like to know.

I'm unsure if the product you are inquiring about is straight Rabon or Rabon some sort of carrier. A mineral that is fed at the rate of 4 oz to 800+ lb animals would have 0.494% Rabon (tetrachlorvinphos). Dairy cattle eat more dry matter and excrete more manure than beef cattle so I would think the feeding rate of rabon would need to be higher in dairy cows than beef cows but I'm not positive on that.
