At work I do some quality control work on a group of individuals. This week at a manager's meeting, we were discussing how we need to give them positive praise occasionally to improve their work ethic. The following day I got a message from my boss asking me why I wasn't responding to an email. I told him I never got it. What happened was that one of them "sent" me an email and I didn't respond in a few hours, so obviously I was ignoring her. Then yesterday I had one go to my manager and then send me a message saying that my manager was OK with him getting some scoring back. I was not OK with it, but I let it slide. I was more perturbed by the fact that he went around me to my boss than to talk with me. So....next time I think I'm going to be a bit less lax than usual. Anyway, best part was that my manager (who has worked construction for his dad previously) and I laughed about how hard they'd have it cutting it in farming or construction. These folks are in for a rude awakening, that's for sure.

I would have thought you would be pretty perturbed at your manager as well..

I'd be embarrassed to pretend to know what " a millennial" is or was.
Now that you mention it, just what is a millennial?

They are Generation Y. Technically, I am one but I don’t identify as one. Early 80’s children through mid-90’s.

What if you were born in 1996?

I hate Millennials so much I refuse to be even associated with this thread.

Please Delete.

But, if you were a true millennial, you could be demanding a safe space from this thread....

My boss is a real dic. He makes me work daylight till dark 7 days a week. Never gives me any praise at all. Pays me a six-pack every couple days.

Sounds a lot like my boss. Gives me "the look" first thing every morning, like he's expecting more out of me.

i also have a boss like that.. except he gives me a 6 pack every night. :lol2:

he's a big prick!

One thing I will say about the younger crowd is their ability to learn and adapt can really be really amazing. The problem is 98% don't know how to apply their knowledge and skills in the real world. They literally have never done any thing other than go to school and exist for the first 20-25 years of their life. Sadly, the work place is a culture shock to them.

If you can figure out how to handle them, they can be very productive.
