Metal gate colors

I have some metal gates, like in the picture, in need of a paint job. For those of you that like things spiffy and neat, what color do you like best? No big deal, but since I'm going to the trouble of doing it, I may as well do it right. I'm debating among black, green, red, or gray. My 15 year old daughter is weighing in as well. She thinks we should not paint them all the same, but some variety. Anyone here have a favorite gate color?

Hey, Good idea! Explaining the whereabouts of something does get a little cumbersome at times, especially with younger ones.

If they are Tarter gates, bet they are. Tarter makes their gates in Ky. In fact, I bet some of their plants are no far from you. The color of Tarter gates signify their strength or gauge of metal. Strongest Red. Then I think Blue. The lightest weight is Green.

Most if them around here are green when we buy them, so I get tired of them.

When we re paint one or pain new pipe fence I'm using brown on everything now. Out of all the colors brown will look the best the longest after it starts to rust a little. Green and any light color shows it pretty bad. There is a ranch around here that paints all there gates and fence Kubota orange, it looks good for a while but after it starts to fade I wouldn't want it.

I also think all different colors would be really cool! Mine are either Red or White, depending on the location.

I think you should paint them all Volunteer Orange. :)

That's why I go with brown.

I’ve painted all of my wooden fences white and my gates red. Why? I think it goes back to my early childhood. My Speak ‘N’ Spell and the “Little Golden Books” taught me that a farm should be clean and well-groomed with red barns and outbuildings and white fences and “Z” supports on the barn doors. So naturally, I’m trying to re-gain my youth by asking my farm look like it was in a children’s book!
