Have you ever sent a message to the wrong person or received a message that was intended for someone else?

Received a message from a good friend the other day saying how disappointed he was that I had not visited and how much he had been looking forward to seeing me again and went on to describe certain 'activities' that he had planned   . So realizing there was no ways that the message was intended for me, I sent him a short message with lots of smilies informing him of his error. His reply - " Sorry Ali  ". Perhaps I should have let it go and not caused him the embarrassment but then again he would have sat around waiting for a reply from his 'love'...

Business deals are made by way of messaging nowadays and it makes one wonder how many of them have gone wrong due to this very same thing.

Yep. I received an e-mail from our HR person that I was mentioned in. It was intended for my boss. HR was pretty embarrassed because they are all about privacy these days.

Even if the message is sent to the proper destination texts and emails can be misconstrued. And there is always an electronic track.

My wife has a good friend who's husband travels to China on business a couple of times a year. One time after dropping him at the airport she sent him a text that read "No hookers this time John". Unfortunately she sent it to their 14 year old daughter who was in school at the time.

Lot of truth in that. Lots more to communication than words. I sometimes wonder how many spats are caused by misunderstandings on the part of the reader.

Isn't John and hooker almost synonymous? Or is that secret service?

It happens with other medians besides messages. A strange number showed up on my cell one morning and I answered with my usual "hello". A young girl replied "hey baby you can come over now, my husband just left for work." I figured out that she had the wrong number so I decided to have a little fun. I replied "sounds great, where do you live?" She said "oh s$%t" and hung up me. Not sure why her husband had to be gone before the neighbor came over. She must have lived in a really small house and only had room in it for two people at a time. ;-)

Beat this. Setting in the truck a couple weeks ago eating lunch. I text my wife . I love you, and you were very good last night. Sent it to my 69 year old mother. I sat there in my truck for a while contemplating suicide. I finally called mom t to explain. She laughed and sad son when I read that I was proud to have raised a man so sweet to his wife.

You win!

I texted a picture of a boat motor to Bigfoot last week that was supposed to go to my dad, that's about as far as mine have went.

I "thought" I sent a picture to the Vet yesterday, wrong!

I get back "ick! do I know you? Is that a Lions eye"

Me : sorry typo, no a goats eye

"Oh, do you have any others for sale?"

Sold a dang goat for $200 by accident yesterday

I answered my phone a couple of months ago to hear little kids singing happy birthday to grandpa. I had to listen to the whole thing before I could get one of them to put mom on the phone so I could tell them they had the wrong number.

An senior lady in Oregon has me on speed dial. She thinks I'm Roger. No mam, I'm John in S Indiana.
Ali, are you SURE that message wasn't intended for you?

Roger! you know it was me calling and you know I'm a fat old guy not a little old lady.... At least you got the state right! You know it was me Roger!

But I do agree, Ali, we need more details on the original message! :hide: :hide: :hide:

Hubby is on call 24/7, has a cell phone just for work. We get calls on it from the elderly, not-all-there mother of the guy who had the job years ago. It's actually a relief to hear the old lady and not someone with a problem he has to go in and fix. And, conveniently, her son she is trying to reach lives across the road from OUR son, so we just relay the message. Gotta love a small community.

Was in the middle of msg's with a known contact of mine, and then suddenly a reply from a number saying they didnt know what I was talking about. Turns out that one message went to some random person in the middle of canada, despite being in a string of other messages. Strange, but stuff still get's its lines crossed nowadays.

Back about 40 years ago there was a small Sears store in Navasota, and their phone number was very close to ours. My sister and I were at home one day when the phone rang. My sister answered, listened for a moment, and said "No, ma'am, you have the wrong number." She had just sat back down when it rang again. Same lady trying to reach Sears. This time my sister even gave the lady the right number to call. Two minutes later it rang again. I answered this time. She said "Is this Sears?" I said "Yes ma'am, what can I do for you?" "This is Mrs. So and so, has the item I ordered come in yet?" "Yes ma'am, you can come pick it up anytime."

I hated to do it, but it was the only way to get rid of her. She never called back. I hope whatever it was she had ordered really was ready to pick up.
