he and his mother have some cattle together...mostly angus....

I did not know he was even doing the daily moves down there until he sent me the message.

I called him a little while ago and he said that started moving them daily this spring when the calves were mostly born....

Great to hear! We love MIG, and our pastures have never looked better. Wish my neighbor would learn to do it, I get tired of their weeds blowing over to my side of the fence. And the cattle mooing at us to be fed, since they have no grass now, just the weeds that grew so well....spiny pigweed anyone?

I would say that is pounds. Not too hard to achieve with the right genetics and grass!

well these were my sons and his mothers.......and her husband.
the herd is in Surry....I think they sell at Blackstone.
I always preferred to sell directly to a buyer but seldom had enogh cattle to make a truckload.
I have sold to Roseda...I have sent them west with the ratained ownership program....I have sold thru Central Va Ctttlemen sales...I have sold thru va cattle at radiant and sometimes just at the private market at Madison.
Winchester is almost as much of a hike for me as it is for you...
I would go to Staunton first...
now that I ma down to two cows it don't matter much....wanting heifers and getting bulls so I eat em....

pdf good point.. but If I have a good load I head to lynchburg if I have a couple to sell I go to blackstone. If im not mistaken I thought someone told me 600lb heifer calves were selling for $ 2.02lb at either winchester or lynchburg a few weeks ago I haven't checked the reports to verify.
