Say I am going to clear a pasture by hand and will be cutting down the mesquite in my pasture. Is there anything I can put on the stumps to make them decay at a faster rate?

Do not just cut down the mesquite. Shredding is spreading when it comes to mesquite.

Treat with the Brush Busters (http://texnat.tamu.edu/BrushBusters/index.htm) then after you are sure you killed the roots, cut them.

On the big trees, the 25% Remedy and diesel mix will kill the tree in about 6-8 weeks.

You could root plow them, but you'll be treating small trees for years to come. There is no fast and easy way to rid your place of them, though.

I have used their recomendations on huisache And it worked great. Nothing else did. Plowing will just spread them. Mowing will give a $1000 worth of flats.
