How long after spraying with sendero does it take to get complete root kill ?
I had planned on waiting till fall to have it mulched, but the guy called and said he is slow and would make me a deal if he could come do it now

If you can't break it over with your foot or the tractor or truck you do not want to cut it. It's not dead until it can break over. If it still flexes and bends it's still alive.

The fastest I have seen was spraying one year and you could break it over the next spring.

I have had to let stuff sit for 2 or 3 years until it killed it good. It was stuff that had been shredded for years and years. Had a massive roots and not much on top.

I've put a crap ton of time into spraying it. I'd hate to have it mulched and all of it come back from the root and have to spray it all again

I agree. If you cut it too early its a complete waste. My favorite method, if you can stand to look at it, is to just leave it standing until the cows knock it over. Then you know for sure its gone for good.

I've seen good success with sendero on smooth barked trees. Once the bark gets rough ,not so much.
Sprayed 200 acres of young but thick mesquite with sendero two years ago.got maybe 70 percent kill. Went back through it last year and hit anything greening back up. Looks pretty much done for this year. I would wait for the trees to start falling apart on their own.
I really think if I was going to mechanical remove mesquite I would do it first and spray the regrowth for three years after.

I have some ground that had big trees sprayed and killed but were sprouting out at the bottom.
Mulched them last fall and have quite a few sprouts coming up but it's pretty easy to drive around and spray them.
I've started carrying a pump up sprayer in the utv so when I'm out in the evenings I can spray the little ones when I see them.
I have one with fly spray and one with sendero
I had to label them cause one time I was spraying mesquite with fly spray

The information provided above is correct. The worse thing you can do is cut them down thinking they are dead. That seems to trigger the roots to put out another sprout. Your cows will tell you when they are truly dead by knocking them over to get to the green grass around them. From my experience it will take a about a year.

I also have a boat load of small elm trees to kill along with mesquite and honey locust. The dow chemical rep told me to mix surmount with the sendero. Around 1% of each. He said that mixing them together makes both work better and allows me to kill darn near everything in one passing. It seems to be working well but only time will tell.

The bad thing about mesquite it their seeds can lay dormant for like 10-15 years so you can basically never stop spraying them. :)
