We had our County Cattlemans meeting last Saturday night. We are trying to boost membership and get back on top in the state. We had between 450-500 people in attendance. Last time we had this same guy for entertainment 10 years ago we had around 800 in attendance. Just thought I would share this pic. Not the best pic but I think most will figure out who the guy on the right is. The one on the left is me.

Not that there is anything wrong with it, but I see a lot of cattleman members who don't own cattle.

Baxter Black was at the Tennessee Cattlemans Association annual shindig last weekend. I saw him a couple of years ago in Murphy, Idaho at the Old Timers Day festival. Funny guy with a twisted sense of humor. I enjoyed chatting with him after the show.

Very cool!!! Had you met Baxter before? I love listening to and reading his stories. He's a bit bent... lol

LazyA I had not met him before the other night. However he stayed until the last person that wanted to visit with him was finished. He also enjoy`s selling his books and video`s. LOL He is a very interesting man.

Bigfoot, we have several people in our association that do not own cattle. However, they support our organization and love to eat beef so we encourage anyone that wants to join to climb on board. One guy that I know from years back is a fellow director. He does not own cattle and is in the Real Estate business but he is there at every function we have cooking steaks or helping in some way. We cook and sell ribeye sandwiches on Memorial day ans Labor Day weekends in one of the local shopping centers. It has evolved into a big event and we usually sell between 3500-5000 each of those weekends.

Hoss, He was in Tennessee on Friday night and at our place on Saturday night. He is friends with a couple of our members who are also "Cowboy Poets" . He put on a really good show and had the entire crowds attention.

good picture,, are they still decent cattle numbers in your Co..? alot lower here since to the tornados, and selling out due to the higher price's

AC, We still have quite a few cattle in our county. I have not looked at numbers lately but I think Cullman Stockyard still sells more cattle every year than any other market. I realize that some of those are hauled in from other places too.

went to a western art ,and cowboy poetry in Hollypond back in the late 90's bet those guys were there..

I've met him twice. He is a very slight man. Both times on the street, not at an event. He remembered meeting me the second time. His memory really impressed me. People would probably still recognize me wearing a ski mask though, but I was still impressed.

I shook hands with Baxter about 10 yrs ago.

Baxter was the top billing entertainment at a local business open house/steak fry. Baxter is a genuine cowboy, poet, vet, and most of all, a gentleman. He put on a heck of a show in a large fabric hoop structure on a cool August evening. :D

Baxter is the real deal. Don't think they have had anything that would quite match him since. :tiphat:
