I'm watching an auction on dvauction this morning and i have a question. They run a few cows/steers as "pound cows". They were selling for $76 at around 900lb.

How are these selling so cheap. Are the sent to the butcher right after the auction? Can you bring them to your farm?

Not seeing the animals I couldn't say why this price. IMO they are going to feed lots. You can do what ever you want if you keep raising your hand and buy them.

This is also true when the y bring in slaughter bulls. the price is around $75/100lb.

Compare this to a non-slaughter bull that goes for $130

"Pound cows" are usually slaughter cows going straight to slaughter.
900 lbs steers for 76 cents a lb are usually individuals with some sort of problem and in need of some TLC to get them
to finish. Or maybe just a short stay in a feedlot to add a few pounds before slaughter.

Usually not.
Although you will occasionally find a few good ones in the slaughter pen the odds are stacked against it.
After all the previous owner, who knows them best, thought selling for slaughter was his best option.
