Chinese tallow tree is also known as the Popcorn tree since its flowers look like popcorn. Many were sold in sunday papers promising beauty and quick shade. Its truly a pest. Seeds float and drift everywhere and its a great competitor.
Pdfangus, its too late in the year to be thinking about starting the mushrooms. You need to do begin when the sap is down and all you need do is inoculate bolts from certain trees species. I'm not too familiar with the alianthus but it seems like it is diffuse porous which would make it break down faster than say a red oak which is what I use. But different mushrooms have different requirements.
