Was it really that bad? I had always heard bad things about them, feared them like crazy. I have had 2 and did not think they were much worse than a filling. Just took longer.

I have had three in my lifetime and have manged to keep all my teeth.
First two not much to them this was one bad motor scooter.
Back molar dentist said absolutely worst one to do a root canal on.
He is the only dentist I have used in the last 30 year's when he said this is not good he had my attention.
He was right as well.
 
had one thirty years ago....
they sent me to a root canal specialist....
I sat down in the chair and said one thing....
I don't hurt....you don't hurt...
he laughed and said you almost sound serious
I replied serious as a heart attack.....
he looked at me....
I never felt anything for three days...and by then it was over...
had two back teeth pulled a few months ago becasue they had gone bad fast and was not enough gum to justify saving them...all I felt was a little pressure....painkillers today are wonderful....
 
I got hit in the jaw with a softball July 4th 2011. It cracked a molar. They capped it first. It still hurt a month later. They gave me a root canal. February 2012 I woke up in the middle of the night, and noticed it was sticking up. Went to the dentist, and he pulled it. Grand total over $4000.
