Lumpy jaw...treatment

Can cattle with Lumpy Jaw have the lump burst by a vet and if so what are the consequences of this? Is it true that this disease is contagious to other cattle through the water supply and that the bacteria from this disease will survive on the ground for a long time? Thank you

I thought the disease was spread when the fluid ran out from the lump. I would talk to a vet or research lumpy jaw.
